Satya had worked for about 12 years at AT&T, Honeywell, Philips and TCS in technical research, product development, business development and general management roles before founding Sulekha.com as an interactive/transactive platform for Indians. He grew the company from two employees (the other being his co-founder, Sangeeta Kshettry) to over 1000 employees now across 15 offices and raised capital from Indigo Monsoon Group, Norwest Venture Partners and Mitsui. Satya was featured in 500+ news stories and was invited to speak in 200+ conferences, industry gatherings and academic/corporate institutions, including Wharton, McCombs, ISB Hyderabad, IIM Calcutta, IIT Bombay and NIT Singapore. Satya has authored nearly 100 technical and general interest articles, some of which were published by Penguin, Mint/Wall Street Journal, Impact, Economist and Harvard Business Review. Satya has won recognition for technical leadership at Honeywell and business leadership at AT&T and was recognized by the Confederation of Indian Industry with an entrepreneurship award. Satya has a Masters in Computer Science and an MBA from the University of Florida, Gainesville. Prior to that, he received a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communications from NIT (REC), Trichy. His interests include chess, tennis, writing, investing and Zen.
